T. Jean Slagle Mills

August 23, 1928 - January 15, 2022

T. Jean Slagle Mills passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Bristol, TN, at the age of 93. She was born on August 23, 1928, to the late Huey Vaughn and Doris Vaughn Wade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Hunt, Rev. William Slagle and Ralph Mills.; daughter Carolyn Kegley and son Norman Hunt; sisters Betty Ruth Tucker and Billie White. She enjoyed being a volunteer at BRMC for 20 years. She will be remembered as a smiling face greeting visitors from the front desk or working in the gift shop. Jean was an active member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church, Bristol, Virginia. She spent most of her adult life as a minister’s wife in the Holston Conference of UMC and was very active in her role. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Baldwin and her husband Homer; granddaughters, Christina Walden and her husband John, and Kimberly Boy-Carrier; grandsons, Eric Cuddy and his wife Lindsey and Herbie Wayne Boy; sister, Jeanetta Cockrell and her husband Howard of Ocala, FL; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; nieces, special friend Vickie Winchell, and her beloved fur babies Tora and Malea. A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Oakley-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Roberts of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by Charlie Lawson and Becky Blevins. The family will receive friends following the service. The committal service and burial will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery.
