Shirley Walker Hill

Shirley Walker Hill, age 80, of Bristol, TN, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. She was born on November 7, 1938 in Boise, ID, a daughter of the late Oliver J. and Norma Myrtle Parvin Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Neal Hill, DVM. Dr. and Mrs. Hill were married in Chicago, IL on September 4th, 1960 and made their home in Ashland, OH prior to relocating to Bristol. They remained married just over 43 years until his death November 13, 2003. They were co-owners of Parkway Animal Clinic and Pet Grooming. Both were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years where Mrs. Hill was very active and served on the church council. She loved animals, attending plays at the Barter Theatre, experimenting with new recipes and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two children, Kay Ellen Hill and partner Deana Corene Calhoun, of Memphis, TN; Ian Walker Hill and wife Sandra, of Franklin, TN and three grandchildren, Wyatt, Connor and Emma Hill; one brother, Michael J. Walker and wife Marty, of Washington; and a cousin, Gae Gibbons, of Meridian, Idaho. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 672 Island Road, Bristol, VA. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gary Chenoweth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Barter Theatre, PO Box 867, Abingdon, VA 24212.
