Millicent “Millie” Broglin Pippin, former long-time resident of Bristol, Tennessee died at the age of 94 on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Sacred Ground Hospice House in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born in Dayton, Ohio then living for a time in Harriman, Tennessee she came with her family to Bristol in 1934, where she resided until 2007 moving to Shannondale retirement community in Maryville, Tennessee. Mrs. Pippin graduated from Tennessee High School, Bristol, class of 1945. After graduating from Virginia Intermont College, Bristol, Virginia and Madison College, Harrisonburg, Virginia she pursued post-graduate studies at ETSU. She taught school for ten years, first in San Juan, Puerto Rico, while her husband was stationed there in the army, and later in Bristol, Tennessee. Mrs. Pippin was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, where she and her husband were married and reared their children in the faith. She was a member of the Junior League, Blue Stocking Club, 1900 Literary Club and a participant in Community Bible Study for over twenty years. Upon moving to Maryville, she became an active member of New Providence Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed many activities at Shannondale and her community including volunteering at the Clayton Center for the Arts. Mrs. Pippin was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years William (Bill) Pippin, her parents Charles Robert and Charlene Bazell Broglin, and her sisters, Lucille Broglin and Jane Gaby. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. William Pippin, Jr and wife Laura Pippin of Knoxville, Tennessee and John Pippin of New Bern, North Carolina, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and sister-in-law Mrs. Elizabeth (Betts) Sharpe of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Farrant of Maryville presiding.
