James "Jim" Burton Barnes

James “Jim” Burton Barnes, 88, of Bristol, TN entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Waters of Bristol. He was born in Wytheville, VA and was the son of the late Thomas E. Barnes and Jessie Myrtle Freeman Barnes. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Bluff City Masonic Lodge #444 where he was a member for 67 years and second in seniority at the lodge. Those left to cherish memories of Jim include his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Steele Barnes, his children: Julie Robinson, James B. Barnes, II (Connie), Jennifer Booher (Hunter), Mark Harless; grandchildren: Keitin Robinson, Justin and Dylan Goodman, Fisher and Madison Booher, Zachary Harless (fiancé Vanessa), Gabriel and Tyler Harless; great-grandchild, Jace Goodman, brother-in-law, Bob Steele and wife Lynn, several nieces and nephews, special friends: Cathy and Leroy Gott, Beverly and Jr. Wilson, and Jeneine and George Castle. The family will honor Jim’s life during a service at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Sunrise Cemetery in Bluff City with Rev. Scott Greene officiating. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post # 2108. Masonic rites will be provided by Bluff City Lodge #444. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 am to go in procession to the cemetery. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of The Waters of Bristol for taking such good care of Jim during his time there. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Chinquapin Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1727 Chinquapin Church Road, Bluff City, TN 37618.
