Click here to view a live stream of Ray's funeral ceremony. Jackie “Ray” Gent, 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 27, 2022 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was proceeded in death by his loving parents; Jack O. Gent and Emily Grace Bushong Gent. He was the eldest of two children. Ray was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Other than his childhood growing up in a Navy family and his time in the Navy, he spent his life in the Bristol Tennessee area. He lived and worked on the family farm. Ray had many interests including but not limited to music, poetry, reading and art. He loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. Ray was a devout Christian and attended many churches in the area through the years, the last of which was Parkway Baptist Church. Ray is survived by his brother; James “Jim” Gent and his wife Ruby; nieces Michelle Gent, Glenda Ingle and nephew Michael Ingle; several greats; Drake Garland, Kelsey Gent, Riley Ingle, Sydney Ingle, Gavin Ingle and many aunts, uncles and cousins left behind to cherish his memory. Funeral services for Jackie “Ray” Gent will be conducted on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Montgomery officiating. The Gent Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening after 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service. A committal service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Weaver Cemetery with family members and friends serving as pallbearers.
