Adam Smith, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 52 on Friday, July 2nd, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Worthing, UK and moved with his family to Naples, Florida. He started Sussex Homes and later Naples Redevelopment and became an influential leader in the building and development community. His contribution to the City of Naples will be his legacy, but his love, selflessness and compassion for others will be remembered most by the people closest to him. Adam married the love of his life, Kelly Godsey, and had two children Miles and Ruby, who were the joy of his life. He was whip smart, a world traveler, an avid golfer, skier, boater, and he loved cars. He also enjoyed spending time in Kelly’s hometown of Bristol, Tennessee. He touched the lives of so many, living a life of adventure, hard work, and generosity. He lives on in the hearts of his wife Kelly and their children Miles and Ruby, his parents Lesley and Andy Smith, sister Lisa Smith, mother-in-law Shirley Godsey, special friend Bob Fine, sister-in-law Tracey Harmon (Doug), brother-in-law Bobby Godsey (Jennifer), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gratitude and love go to all the special friends who were a constant presence in our lives. The family would also like to thank Dr. Vijay Konda, Dr. Mark Rubin, the staff at NCH and especially Dr. Kenneth Anderson and his team at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, Boston. Celebrations of Life will be held at a later date in Naples and Bristol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Adam Smith and Kelly Godsey-Smith Family Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 to enable Dr. Ken Anderson to advance Multiple Myeloma research.
